Major Upgrades to the 2025 Kia EV6

If you haven’t yet heard of the Kia EV6, it’s only the latest all-electric ride sweeping the nation. Rolling into the 2025 model year with a revamp already, there’s much to love about this crossover SUV like an improved battery pack (77.4 kWh to 84 kWh) and faster charge times, making it one of the fastest-charging EVs on the market with 10-80% in just 18 minutes.

Now that you’re up to speed, let's get into the fancy tech that you’ll find in the newest Kia EV6:

1. The Fingerprint Reader

Everyone’s thrilled about the new fingerprint reader and for a good reason. The fingerprint scanners we’ve seen so far only do as much as adjust your seating presets, but the EV6 takes this tech a step further with more capabilities. This new fingerprint reader will allow you to start the EV6 without needing a key, and it does this by confirming your identity to help prevent theft and secure your peace of mind.

2. Better Over-the-Air Updates

Kia’s previous EVs already support over-the-air updates, but not quite like this. Over-the-air updates have been improved for the new EV6, now allowing the integration of enhancements to your electronic control systems on top of simple navigation updates.

3. A Refreshing Dashboard Facelift

Touch tech has also had a major overhaul, with the new Kia EV6 now supporting capacitive buttons for heating and ventilation features in your seats and steering wheel. Speaking of the steering wheel, an artistic decision was made here. Now, rather than the Kia logo being front and center, it has been shifted a little to the side for a daring and contemporary look. Further along the dash, you’ll also notice that the dual panoramic display is also much crisper with improved graphics.

4. Improved Smartphone Usage For Your Convenience

Smartphone connectivity is nothing new, but the way it’s integrated into the vehicle is what makes all the difference. You won’t have to struggle with cords and wires anymore because the new EV6 will support wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto for a seamless infotainment experience. Kia upped the ante a bit by constructing a wireless charging pad that’s designed to prevent sliding.

5. A More Intuitive Steering Wheel

As long as there are manufacturers that care, there will always be new and intuitive ways to enhance your safety in ways that we never even considered. This is one of those moments. The Kia EV6’s power-adjustable steering wheel has been made with grip detection. We have yet to see how this feature will be used, but we imagine that it will help with driver awareness and automatic preemptive measures.

6. There’s a UV Photocatalytic Air Purifier

Air purifiers have become increasingly popular, and now you can have one in your very own car! The air purifier in the EV6 utilizes UV rays to sterilize the cabin, helping to eliminate threats to your health like mold and mildew. This useful feature gets to work and completes its job in roughly 15-30 minutes which is rather impressive for something that isn’t exactly common.
