What The Kia Telluride Has Over The Mazda CX-90
The popular Telluride saw minimal but delightful changes between the 2023 and 2024 models, but even without going through drastic updates, it still fares better than the latest Mazda CX-90 in so many aspects:
The Base Price Is Much Lower
The 2024 Kia Telluride goes for as low as $36,190 for the base LX model. Even if you go with the highest SX Prestige X-Pro trim, the MSRP is only $53,385. Not bad for all the bells and whistles!
The base trim for Mazda’s CX-90 is a much higher $39,595 and a whopping $59,950 for the highest Turbo S model with everything on it.
The Warranties Are Longer
With Kia, you get the reassurance of a 10-year or 100,000-mile powertrain warranty and a 5-year or 60,000-mile limited warranty. It’s not often you see any manufacturer warranties make it up to ten whole years which is why it’s a pleasant surprise for the Telluride.
Meanwhile, Mazda only offers a 5-year or 60,000-mile powertrain warranty and a 3-year or 36,000-mile limited warranty.
The Back Has More Space
The Telluride can offer up to 87 cubic feet of cargo space with all of the rear seats down, or 46 cubic feet behind the second row and 21 behind the third. The available hands-free power liftgate makes it easy to access your cargo area which is great for trips that call for more.
In the new CX-90, you can only get up to 75.2 cubic feet of cargo space, and that’s only on certain trims.
The Engine Is More Powerful
Kia’s competitor may be all about performance, but the Telluride still has it beat with 291 horsepower on its 3.8L V6 engine. It also offers supreme handling with its 8-speed automatic transmission.
The CX-90’s 6-cylinder engine can only make it up to 280 horsepower.
The Standard Tech Is Upgraded
You probably wouldn’t expect a 12.3-inch infotainment screen to come standard in the base Telluride, but it does! You’ll also have wifi hotspot support, remote start, and dual-zone automatic climate control without needing to go up a trim.
The standard infotainment screen for the CX-90 is only 10.25 inches, and there’s not much else standard to note other than powered seats.
The Cabin Is Luxurious
That’s right, even by going with a more affordable Kia, you can still enjoy certain luxuries like synthetic leather trim and upholstery in the lower trims, or genuine leather in the higher models.
Mazda offers similar materials in the CX-90, but that’s precisely why the Telluride is so impressive for its price.
